@cas30
Thanks for the tips. That zoom effect is very useful when creating screencasts.

The package name is indeed the same in Debian/Ubuntu.
sudo apt-get install recordmydesktop
works fine.

Hi BinnyVA... it's the first time that i write in your blog, but i've reading it since 3 weeks ago, and i like me very much. Thanks by your posts!

About this screencast tool... wowwww... it's wonderful:

- i've installed in Ubuntu Hardy (8.04) with the command "sudo aptitude install recordmydesktop gtk-recordmydesktop"
- it save the video with very good quality and not a lot of Mb.... perfect!
- when you are defining the area to film of your desktop, you have a button to directly choose one of the windows you have opened! fantastic.
- during the filming, you can press some keys/button-mouse for do a zoom in/zoom out. It's a propierty of the Beryl/Compiz Ubuntu desktop (one can configure this action at System/Preferences/AdvancedDesktopEffectsSetup in the Filter for accesibility named "Enhanced Zoom Desktop)

Thanks again!
Good blog.
